Pistolet maszynowy MP5 jest produkowany przez niemiecką firmę Heckler und Koch od 1966 roku i jest dostosowany do naboju pistoletowego 9x19mm Parabellum. Automatyka pistoletu maszynowego działa na zasadzie odrzutu zamka pół swobodnego, zawierającego dwie symetryczne rolki hamujące.
