W połowie lat siedemdziesiątych konstruktorzy z zakładów Česká
Zbrojovka Uherský Brod – Josef i František Koucký opracowali nowy
pistolet samopowtarzalny przystosowany do amunicji kal. 9 mm. Prototyp
pistolet był zbudowany w 1975 roku i został przyjęty do produkcji seryjnej pod oznaczeniem CZ 75.
Po wprowadzeniu do produkcji seryjnej w 1976 roku wprowadzono w pistolecie kolejne zmiany i powstało szereg jego wersji.
Pistolet CZ 75 jest bronią samopowtarzalną, działającą na zasadzie krótkiego odrzutu lufy.
Ryglowanie odbywa się poprzez przekoszenie lufy w płaszczyźnie
pionowej. Mechanizm uderzeniowy wyposażony jest w kurek zewnętrznym i w
zależności od wersji posiada mechanizm spustowy z samonapinaniem lub z
wyłącznym samonapinaniem.
Zasilanie odbywa się z dwurzędowego magazynka pudełkowego o
pojemności 16 (wersja na nabój 9 x 19 mm) lub 12 naboi (odmiana na nabój
.40 S&W) umieszczonego w chwycie.
Replika pistoletu CZ 75 D Compact
Replika pistoletu pod względem wyglądu oraz wagi, bardzo dobrze odzwierciedla oryginał. Zamek został wykonany z metalu, korpus natomiast został
wykonany z tworzywa. Gumowany chwyt ułatwia trzymanie repliki, a sama
replika, za sprawą dużej wagi, pewnie leży w dłoni strzelca. Metalowy
magazynek mieści 15 kulek. Bezpiecznik, który z łatwością można
obsługiwać kciukiem, znajduje się po lewej stronie korpusu. Odrzut zamka (Blow-Back), w połączeniu z dużą masą pistoletu daje bardzo realistyczne wrażenia podczas strzelania.
