Pistolety Taurus produkowane są przez brazylijską firmę Taurus Forjas SA. Pierwotny PT92 był dokładną kopią Beretty 92. Do dziś, PT92 nadal wykorzystuje wiele rozwiązań wprowadzonych przez Berettę (takich jak bezpiecznik montowany w szkielecie).

Od czasu jego wprowadzenia, Taurus PT92 został znacznie zmodyfikowany i poprawiony, a obecnie stanowi wysokiej jakości pistolet dostępny w przystępnej cenie. Model PT99 jest podobna do PT92, wyróżnia się możliwością regulowania tylnych przyrządów celowniczych co 1 mikrometr.

     Replika pistoletu Taurus PT99

Replika wykonana jest z metalu oraz tworzywa. Elementy wykonane z tworzywa to okładziny chwytu pistoletowego oraz szczęki magazynka. Na zamku wytłoczone są oznaczenia wersji ostrej.
